It is in the Pacific, more exactly in the Hawaiian Islands that the surfing was born. In France, it is Peter Viertel who imported the surfing in 1956 by noticing the waves of the Basque coast. Joël and Arnaud De Rosnay contributed at the beginning of 1960s to the promotion of this new sport in Biarritz on the beach of the Côte des Basques accompanied by four big surfers: Barland, Rott (creators of Long Board), Jo Moraiz and Reinhard.
